Hidden Moments
You never know what you are going to find in someone's junk drawer, I guess. Dad had misplaced his reading glasses—as an avid reader, this was a major catastrophe for him— and so I had come over to help search his apartment. It wasn't a big place, so I figured it couldn't take all that long.
I texted Sally and told her I might be a little late picking her up, but not to worry. The trip to the retirement community was another stop, roll, stop brain-cell-killing masochist's thrill ride through heavy traffic, just like any other day. When I finally got to dad's, I let myself in.
Old Dusty Desk
Old Dusty Desk is a story where an old man is the main character. The emotional pivot for this post is the word confusion.

The Something Series
Amelia had a 150 word short story challenge based on the saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." The challenge was to write short stories of exactly 150 words, that had nothing to do with weddings or marriage, etc. and contained various words or phases she selected. In addition to all these constraints, I chose to place a single word theme of my own in all four stories. My challenge is for you to find the word threading through all four stories.

Asking for Directions
"What are you mad at me for? This trip wasn't my idea."
"What? How is it my fault that you didn't get your letter to Santa written and mailed?" she asked. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes.
The younger sister wasn't paying attention. She just scanned the tundra, covered in snow as far as the eye could see in every direction.
Snow squeaked and scrunched under their shoes as they trudged on.
The older sister sniffled. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For getting us lost."
"Lost?"
"Yeah. We should've found it by now." She shook her head, sending the tassel on the red hat bobbing drunkenly. "But, I can't find Santa's North Pole."
"Oh, c'mon, Nora." She patted her big sis on the arm. "Look, all we need to do is get one of Santa's reindeer there to give us directions! It can't be that hard!"

Outwitted (Revised)
The original story Outwitted ended a bit abruptly. I had wanted to rework the ending and this is what I came up with. Outwitted (Revised)
A Post Card
A Post Card is another picture prompt piece. The picture looked to be either a fake or of a dimwit hunter who doesn't know that a bobcat is, with giant glowing eyes, just a few feet away and watching him and the dead buck. So, since the photo is sort of frightening, I decided to take it on from a comedy angle.
Stuff the Ducks
Stuff the Ducks is a piece that was supposed to be inspired by looking through the last photo you had taken and finding a stranger in the background/margin. The piece turned into a rant.
